Jill Lehman's Biography

My experience with grief and loss began with the death of my father when I was 13 years old. Since that time, I have been affected by the death of others very close to me. My early experience with multiple loss led to a desire to more fully understand the dynamics of grief and to find ways to help the bereaved.

I received my bachelorís degree in Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley and my Masterís degree in Counseling Psychology from Dominican University of California. I have worked in a variety of settings, providing counseling and psychotherapy to individuals, families, and groups coping with issues of grief, loss, anxiety, depression, lack of fulfillment, low self-esteem, life transitions, recovery issues, and trauma.

I have received extensive formal training in bereavement counseling from Kaiser Hospice, Hospice of Marin, and the Contra Costa Crisis Center. I am also trained in EMDR, which has proven effective in the treatment of complicated and traumatic grief.
